Volunteers' Week takes place at the start of June every year. It's a time to celebrate the amazing contributions that our volunteers make in furthering our mission. It's not just once a year that we think about this. Every year at Christmas, every month in co-production work, every week in Bristol Goods, and every night in our emergency youth shelter, our volunteers are busy creating change where it's greatly needed.

Volunteers Deliver!

Take Bristol Goods, for example... We took a look at what this food-led homelessness and housing insecurity prevention service provided in the year ending April 2025. We discovered that:

  • They provided 179 pop-up food club sessions.
  • They served 283 attendees.
  • They were visited 2,068 times.

Part of the Team

The staff team is small but mighty, consisting of Cara and Jake. To achieve this level of service, they relied on a team of volunteers to deliver the vital community-based project. The volunteers were directly involved in managing the stores, loading/unloading the van and logistics, and serving everyone who attends the food clubs with a warm welcome, and good food. Often, our volunteers may come from the community in which they undertake their role; this gives Caring in Bristol further insight into the impact and need for our work.

Thank You to Every Volunteer

This year, as we see many deepening circumstances that add pressure to people's lives, our volunteers enable us to reach more people and create more change. They extend the scope of what we are able to do, and make an important difference. More than that, they show that homelessness and housing insecurity is an issue that's of concern to all of us. Many of our volunteers describe themselves as ordinary citizens, but what is extraordinary is their passion, skill, and commitment to making Bristol a better place for all of us to live and work.

We thank every single one of our volunteers. We say, "You are all incredible, and greatly appreciated by Caring in Bristol!"
