It's good to think about the positive things that help people to move away from the challenges of situations that involve homelessness and housing insecurity. These things can remove many things from our lives, not just the roof over our heads. At Caring in Bristol we know that the journey away a housing emergency is multi-faceted, and that's why we're always excited when people take time out to rebuild energy and confidence - some of the very things that help to power the move away from precarious housing.

Gurt Yurt

Our thanks go to Tim who runs Gurt Yurt at Batch Campsite in the Mendips. Tim is also a volunteer with us, and his understanding of the restorative value of taking time out inspired him to create an opportunity for some of the young people that Caring in Bristol supports.

James, our Senior Youth Practitioner, explained what happened, "Rob ran a bush craft skills workshop, where the young people were taught how to light a fire. We then cooked some food on it, before some of the group went for a walk in the Mendips hills."

Navigating

It's easy to take leisure activities for granted, but navigating complex housing systems can crowd out these opportunities. We want our young people to have a keen sense of self-care, helping them to succeed in their aspirations.
Thank you to Tim for both his volunteering, and creating this opportunity. They bring so much value to people's lives when they need it most!
